NMEA baud rate converter is an electronic interface that converts the serial communication baud rate (bit/s) between devices. UNIMAX NBC-22 is a marine-grade NMEA baud rate converter designed to connect navigation equipment operating at different serial communication speeds. With configurable input and output baud rates, galvanically isolated NMEA input and RS422/RS485 output interfaces, the NBC-22 provides a reliable interface solution for modernizing and integrating existing marine navigation systems.

It receives NMEA data at one configurable baud rate and retransmits the same data at another baud rate, providing a reliable interface between legacy and high-speed marine equipment.

It is primarily used in marine electronics because different devices operate at different communication speeds.

Data loss may occur when converting from a higher value of baud rate to a lower one due to the bottleneck effect.

Input and output speed can be adjusted according to DIP switches. The embedded software can be updated according to the specially specified baud rate.

In order for the DIP Switch settings to be effective, the device must be disconnected from the power and given again.

The NBC-22 can be powered within the range of 9~32 VDC. The nominal voltage of 24 VDC is advised for powering the device in normal operation. Power input port has a protection for incorrect polarity connection of the supplying voltage.
